It’s fair to say that being part of the community at Burnside Village comes naturally.
The residents here have a reputation for being very friendly and social, and there are nearly always things happening and people around so it’s easy to strike up a conversation or join in with what’s going on. Regular get-togethers, including weekly dinners, add to the vibrant atmosphere.
Importantly, you can join in as much or as little as you like. It’s entirely up to you, and your privacy is always respected.
Staying physically and mentally active is one of the keys to maintaining your wellbeing into old age, and it’s certainly easy to stay busy here. You can join in exercise classes or a game of bowls, have a swim, or follow the walking tracks around the many nearby parklands and Kororoit Creek wetlands. There is also a huge variety of stimulating classes, concerts, interest groups, social gatherings and outings.
Apart from all the opportunities to get involved with life inside the village, Burnside is perfectly positioned to make just about everything in and around Melbourne easily accessible, too.
Convenience is a key to the lifestyle here, with Burnside Hub Shopping Centre, which includes a choice of supermarkets, a discount chemist, a medical centre and many other shops and services, right next door.
Other major Shopping Centres, an array of cafés and restaurants, sporting and social clubs, parks and reserves are also within easy reach.
If you want to venture further afield, Burnside Village is just off the Western Ring Road near Caroline Springs and excellent public transport options are available.
As you would expect, the community centre is a hive of activity. You’ll find people getting a gentle work-out in the exercise room, doing water aerobics in the indoor pool, having a game of billiards, or just relaxing in the spa. The comfortable bar and lounge area, which includes a warming fire in winter, is popular with many of the residents, particularly towards the end of the day. Lunch and dinner are also available in the dining room if you’re not in the mood for cooking.
Outside, the bowling green, set amongst beautiful gardens is the scene of some friendly competition, often with a crowd cheering their favourites on.
There are villas, apartments and serviced apartments available, all of which have been designed to be stylish, comfortable and senior friendly. The two bedroom villas have bright, open-plan living spaces, well-appointed kitchens and bathrooms and a private courtyard or terrace. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes. Each unit also has its own car park space.
The apartments have one bedroom and a study, a large kitchen and generous living space opening onto a balcony or patio. They also feature walk-in wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms.
Spacious studio serviced apartments are a great option for those who want to continue living independently with a little extra assistance. Three delicious meals are provided daily, with a weekly cleaning and laundry service as well.
Fresh milk, tea, coffee and sugar are also supplied to serviced apartment residents. So there is more time to relax and make the most of the day. Ranging in size from a studio to two bedrooms, each apartment includes a kitchenette and separate bathroom.
For your security and safety, all of the homes at Burnside Village have a 24-hour emergency call system and there are staff on-site. Health professionals visit the village on a regular basis to see residents in the clinic in the community centre. For your convenience, deliveries of prescription medicines and other healthcare products from the local pharmacy can be arranged.
There is also an expansive range of in-home services that we can help arrange, anything from cleaning, shopping or meal preparation to assistance with appointments and medication management or nursing care.
